CARVED & POLYCHROME-PAINTED CAROUSEL LION, PROBABLY FRIEDRICH HEYN. Circa 1900-1910. Painted in shades of brown and green, this leaping lion carved with open mouth, accentuated mane and large brown glass eyes, with a triangular green painted saddle, rings for stirrup attachments, stirrups absent. SIZE: 42″ h. x 52″ l. PROVENANCE: Purchased at auction in England in the mid-1990s by the current owner. CONDITION: Structurally very good, retaining early painted surfaces, with wear and craquelure. Very good overall. Now mounted on later stand. 9-99637 (2,000-4,000)
