IMPORTANT CHILD’S CARVED & PAINTED ROCKING HORSE. 2nd half 19th century. This dappled and spotted pony with white horsehair mane and tail, brown glass eyes, and leather bridle, saddle and trappings is rendered with forward pointing ears, open mouth with full set of teeth and flaring red nostrils. Mounted on 7-foot rockers joined by turned stretchers and central platform. SIZE: 44-1/2″ h. x 7’1/2″ l. CONDITION: Very good original condition. Normal and expected losses to paint from wear and usage, notably on legs and areas around saddle. Slight shrinkage crack to proper right rear leg on seam. 9-99702 (1,500-2,500)
