WESLEY ELBRIDGE WEBBER (American, 1841-1914) NIGHT SAIL. Oil on canvas nighttime nautical scene shows a large ship coming towards viewer with green light. Two smaller boats displaying red lights are seen on either side. Moonlight breaks through heavy clouds and is reflected in the ocean. Signed lower left “Wesley Webber”. Housed in what appears to be its original gilt molded wood frame. SIZE: 20″ x 16″. PROVENANCE: Richard Paine Estate, Seal Cove, Maine. CONDITION: 4″ vertical tear in ocean, craquelure with stretcher lines evident. Otherwise good. 9-92401 (1,000-1,500)
