RARE QUEEN ANNE TWO-DRAWER BLANKET CHEST. Second quarter 18th century, Connecticut. This exceptional example, the hinged rectangular lid with deeply molded edge and iron hinges opening to a well. The conforming case fitted with a pair of thumb-molded long drawers. The case sides with high scrolled bootjack base, the front with dramatic scrolled apron beneath applied molding. SIZE: 48″ h x 37″ case w x 19″ d. CONDITION: Surfaces with old crusty brown paint over earlier red wash. No repairs or replacements to case, with normal and expected minor abrasions at edges and corners. The drawers with old secondary wood repairs to bottom of drawer sides.
