UNSIGNED (19th Century) PORTRAIT OF THE SHIP “LOUISA HATCH ENTERING THE HARBOR OF NAPLES”. Oil on canvas marine scene shows the three-mast black hulled ship sailing right to left having a backdrop of Mount Vesuvius. The ship is seen in full sail flying the American flag and having several figures on deck. A ship is seen off the stern. All under a blue and pink highlighted white cloud sky. Bottom painted legend “Louisa Hatch Capt. H. E. Loen(?) Entering the Harbor of Naples in Sum 1856″.? Housed in a fine gesso decorated gilt period frame. SIZE: 20″ x 27-3/4”.
