RARE AND EXCEPTIONAL TIGER MAPLE BANISTER BACK ARMCHAIR. Circa 1720, probably Portsmouth, NH. The chair in early black paint, showing traces of original Salmon paint. The turned posts with mushroom cap finials, centering a crown form crest above 4 split spindle slats, joined to well formed swooping arms continuing to “Elephant ear” hand grips. Raised on a baluster turned frontal legs centering an original Windsor green trapezoidal woven splint seat. The legs joined by a double box sausage-turned stretcher on compressed ball feet.
