MOSAIC TILE. Outstanding glass mosaic tile was originally removed from the Standard & Poors building in New York City. The tile has a center “S&P” monogram and is surrounded by stylized flowers and leaves against a navy background. The floral section is framed by four rows of glass; the first being a clear row with gold foil backing, followed by caramel slag, followed by a thin row of clear with a darker gold foil backing, followed by a translucent striated amber. The tile is framed in a bronze case with heavy concrete backing. We are told that the tile was set in the entry way of the floor at the Standard & Poors building and was removed some years ago during renovation. The tile is unsigned, but because of the high quality workmanship, the construction technique and the glass used, we attribute it to Tiffany Studios. SIZE: 16″ dia. CONDITION: Very good to excellent with only three or four tight hairlines. 5-60063 (4,000-6,000)
