NEW YORK SHERATON INLAID MAHOGANY PEMBROKE TABLE, ATTRIBUTED TO GEORGE WOODRUFF. 1st quarter 19th century. The rectangular top fitted with hinged double elliptic leaves, joined to the conforming frieze fitted with a single drawer with plum pudding veneer and crossbanded edges opposing a simulated drawer, both flanked by figured mahogany panels, raised on swelled reeded ring-turned legs on balloon shaped feet terminating in brass-capped casters. REFERENCE: American Furniture, The Federal Period, by Charles F. Montgomery, p. 351, figure 331. SIZE: 28-1/2″ h. x 35-3/4″ d. x 27-1/2″ w. closed x 51″ w. open. CONDITION: Very good overall, professionally repolished and retaining original brass casters. Brass hardware appears to be a replacement of the period.
