JOHNSON MODEL 1836 FLINTLOCK PISTOL. Cal. 54. Fine flintlock pistol, the last model of flintlock military pistol produced, with 8-1/2″ rnd bbl, brass front sight and rear sight integral with top tang. Lockplate has standard “R JOHNSON” markings and the date “1836”. Mounted in a 1-pc walnut stock with iron furniture, a sgl bbl band and captive, swivel rammer attached to bottom of bbl. Stock has a visible cartouche on left side flat. PROVENANCE: From a coastal New Jersey home. CONDITION: Fair to good. No orig finish remains being a dark brown patina with scattered pitting; wood has several cracks and shows heavy use with a dark hand worn patina. Mechanics are fine, strong bore. 9-24225 (1,500-2,500)
