*RARE WINCHESTER 1894 TAKEDOWN RIFLE WITH NICKEL TRIM. . SN 324332. Cal .3855 26″ oct bbl with fixed nickel-silver blade front sight and open rear sight. Top flat marked “MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO./NEW HAVEN CONN.U.S.A. PATENTED AUGUST 21.1894” Receiver, receiver extension, forend cap and crescent buttplate have nickel finish. Lever, hammer and trigger are case colored. Stock and forend of semi-fancy American walnut. PROVENANCE: Accompanied by Cody Firearms Museum factory letter identifying this rifle as: 38/55, oct bbl, plain trigger, takedown, nickel trim, received warehouse Dec 22 1906, shipped from warehouse on Dec 24 1906, repair and return on Jan 29 1907. CONDITION: Bbl and magazine tube have 90% blue with edge wear and handling marks. Receiver has 90% nickel finish with small spots of surface corrosion. Hammer and lever have good case colors in the protected areas with the balance turning to patina. Sound stock with normal finish wear and handling marks. Sound forend with normal wear and handling marks. Bright bore with strong rifling and spots of very light pitting. Sound action with crisp mechanics. 4-36904 DS7 (9,000-12,000)
