FRAMED EARLY DEED SIGNED BY JAMES MADISON. This deed, printed on parchment, is dated “18 April 1815”. It is for a quarter section of land in Zanesville, Ohio, sold to Franz Germund. It is signed “James Madison”, the future President of the United States, who was at that time, the Commissioner of the General Land Office. Mr. Germund is an ancestor of John Hamilton, the well-known author & collector from Ohio. CONDITION: Fine. Lightly soiled with some rusty water stains at top & bottom edges and with a couple of folded creases, otherwise is completely clear & legible.
