CUSTOM WINCHESTER 1886 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. SN 5575. Cal. 40-82WCF, 26″ octagon bbl, full magazine, nickel rocky mountain front sight with interesting base, serrated side V-notch sporting rear. Top flat is marked “MANUFACTURED BY THE / WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A.” Adjacent receiver “40-82W.C.F.” Receiver is engraved with bold foliate arabesque scrolls with 2 blank panels on left side and 2 smaller blank panels on right side. Bolt and top tang are engraved with foliate scrolls and top tang “MODEL 1886” inlaid in gold. Just behind hammer is circular ribbon marked “ENGR. BY WALTER J. KOLOUCH / PHILA. PA.” Mounted with highly figured walnut, uncheckered straight grip, crescent steel buttplate, highly figured forend with nose cap. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Appears new since upgrading. Bbl and mag tube retain virtually all of their fine restored blue finish. Receiver retains all of its restored case coloring, as well as hammer and lever. The replacement stock has a couple small handling marks and retains virtually all of its Winchester style finish. Replacement forend, with a few minor handling marks, retains virtually all of its Winchester style finish. Mechanics are crisp, slightly dark bore with sharp, distinct rifling. 4-40723 BDT180 (7,000-10,000)
