NEW ENGLAND QUEEN ANNE MAPLE HIGHBOY. Last quarter 18th century, probably Massachusetts. In two parts, the upper section with molded cornice above a concealed frieze drawer with bolection molded front, above a pair of aligned drawers over three graduated long drawers fitted to the lower case, set within a mid-molded frame having a long drawer over three aligned drawers, the centermost fan-carved. All drawers with thumbmolded edges. The whole raised on angular cabriole legs with shaped returns terminating in ridged pad feet centering an apron of astragal arches. SIZE: 67″ h. x 38″ overall w. x 33-3/4″ case w. x 21″ d. PROVENANCE: From a fine Bangor, Maine, estate. Original family note dated 1908 indicates the highboy was from Cape Cod, Massachusetts. A later note dated 1964 indicates that the highboy was bought in 1908 by Mr. Edward March Moor of Bangor, Maine. CONDITION: Professionally restored and repolished. Upper case with vertical seam splits. Locks now absent, brass bails a later replacement. Otherwise very good. 9-99075 (3,000-5,000)
