WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. SN 62100. Cal. 40-82WCF, 26″ oct bbl, full magazine, 1/2 nickel front sight, serrated side V-notch sporting rear with set screw. Top of bbl is marked “MANUFACTURED BY THE / WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A.” Adjacent receiver “40-82W.C.F.” Standard receiver mounted with straight grain walnut, uncheckered straight grip, crescent steel buttplate, standard forend with nose cap. Accompanied with Cody Firearms Museum Winchester letter identifying as 40-82 rifle, oct bbl, plain trigger. Received in warehouse October 6, 1891. Shipped from warehouse October 15, 1891 on order number 13059. CONDITION: Very Good. Bbl and mag tube retain a brown patina finish blending with some areas of silver patina, normal nicks & scratches. Receiver shows traces of orig thinning case colors, stronger in protected areas, blending with brown and silver patina. Stock is sound with normal nicks, dings & scratches and retains orig varnish blending with hand-worn patina. Forend is sound with normal nicks, dings & scratches, 2 small shallow dents on forward left side, and retains a hand-worn patina blended with some orig varnish.
