FEDERAL MAHOGANY TALL CASE CLOCK. Circa 1810, possibly Massachusetts. The arched molded bonnet with three spire-and-ball finials on plinths, alternating with pierced fretwork above the arched door flanked by freestanding colonnettes with brass capitols and bases. The enameled sheet-iron dial with Arabic and Roman numeral chapter rings, subsidiary seconds dial, calendar, and time and strike apertures within spandrels decorated with shells and songbirds, a basket of fruit painted beneath the arch. The eight-day weight driven brass movement with iron “OSBORNE” plate. The case with rectangular panel door flanked by engaged fluted quarter columns on the throat joined to the cove molded box base. SIZE: Overall: 91-1/2″ h. Throat width: 14″. Depth: 9-1/2″. CONDITION: Clock retains old if not original surfaces, fretwork with some losses and damage, face with original paint decoration, movement in need of refurbishment and adjustment. Otherwise good.
