RARE PAIR OF WHITTINGHAM BRASS ANDIRONS WITH TONGS. Circa 1810, New York. The andirons with baluster and spool turned finial above a mid-banded ball on a circular plinth joined to a cylindrical standard branded “WHITTINGHAM/N.YO..” raised on arched spurred legs raised on ball feet. Together with a similar but unmarked pair of fireplace tongs. SIZE: Andirons: height 17-1/2″. Overall depth 19-1/2″. Tongs: 38-1/2″ l. CONDITION: Impressed mark with wear. Andirons and tool burnished. Structurally very good. Dogs intact. 9-29052 (400-800)
