SILAS PARSONS FEDERAL TALL CASE CLOCK. First quarter 19th century, Swanset, New Hampshire. The bonnet with arched concave molded cornice surmounted by brass ball and spire finials. The centermost with cast brass displayed eagle flanked by freestanding fluted colonnettes with brass capitals and bases. The arched door opening to painted iron dial with floral spandrels and classical urn in the arch, signed “Silas Parsons” in script beneath calendar aperture. With eight day weight driven brass movement, time and striking on a bell. The throat with arched molded door, flanked by engaged fluted quarter columns on cove-molded box base with molded plinth. Offered with pendulum and weights. SIZE: 82-1/2″ h. Throat width: 13-1/2″. 8″ d. CONDITION: Case with old surfaces, bracket feet absent, horizontal crack in front panel of base.
