FINE FEDERAL GILT MIRROR. First quarter 19th century, possibly Boston or New York. The rectangular mirror plate within a molded slip beneath an eglomise panel with a depiction of the battle between the USS Constitution and HMS Guerriere flanked by swelled rope twist and fluted engaged half columns, each headed by a floral rosette. The stepped molded cornice with twelve pendent acorn finials above the frieze decorated with applied leaf tips and spherules. The whole gold gilt decorated. SIZE: 51-1/2″ h x 28-3/4″ w overall. CONDITION: Small losses to gilding, notably on polished gilded surfaces. In need of cosmetic restoration. Small losses to paint on eglomise panel on sky. Otherwise very good. 9-29829 (2,000-3,000)
