PERCY SANBORN (American, 1849-1929) “PRINCE”. Oil on canvas dog portrait shows a small black, brown and white dog lying on a colorful throw rug against a mottled gray background. Signed bottom right “Sanborn”. Housed in its original magnificent gesso decorated period frame with fancy gold liner. Pencil writing on back of frame “Painted August 1889 Prince Born June 2nd 1883 Died May 10th 1898”. SIZE: 18” x 24”. PROVENANCE: Richard Paine Estate, Seal Cove, Maine. CONDITION: Very good.
