CUSTOM ENGRAVED WINCHESTER 1876 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. SN 50870. Cal. 40-60WCF, 28″ oct bbl, full magazine, half nickel front sight, “1876” marked ladder rear sight. Top flat is marked “WINCHESTERS-REPEATING ARMS. NEW HAVEN. CT. / KING’S-IMPROVEMENT-PATENTED-MARCH 29, 1866. OCTOBER 16, 1860”. Muzzle is engraved with descending lengths of scroll engraved wedges. Flats of bbl at receiver are engraved with descending lengths of scroll engraved wedges and top flat with “CAL 40-60”. Receiver is wonderfully engraved with game scene on left plate of hunter shooting an elk in wooded scene surrounded by bold foliate scroll with punch pot background. Right plate has bold foliate scroll with punch pot background and portrait head of a setter. Forward portion of both sides of receiver with foliate scroll and punched out background. Top of chamber, dust cover, rail and rear receiver with matching similar scroll work. Mounted with straight grain walnut, checkered straight grip, steel crescent buttplate with trapdoor engraved with matching scroll, standard forend with H style checkering and nose cap with matching scroll. Lower right bbl flat is neatly stamped in tiny letters forward of nose cap “BDL LTD EDGEFIELD SC”. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Like new from its custom upgrade. Bbl and mag tube retain nearly all of the fine custom blue with some very light scattered pitting beneath the mag tube finish and just a couple minor light handling marks. Receiver is finished bright with a clear, protective coating. Hammer, lever & dust cover retain nearly all of a fine custom blue finish. Stock is sound with sharp checkering, a couple of minor handling marks and a fine custom finish. Forend is sound with sharp checkering, a few minor handling marks and a fine custom finish. Mechanics are crisp with dark bore with shallow, scattered pitting. 4-40066 BDT55 (4,000-5,000)
