WINCHESTER 1876 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. SN 14436. Cal. 45-75WCF, 28″ oct bbl, full magazine, half nickel front sight, “1876” marked 1000 yard ladder rear sight. Top flat of bbl is marked “WINCHESTERS-REPEATING ARMS. NEW HAVEN. CT. / KINGS-IMPROVEMENT-PATENTED-MARCH 29, 1866, OCTOBER 16, 1860”. Standard receiver with screw-on rail and dust cover. Mounted with nicely figured straight grain walnut, uncheckered straight grip, crescent steel buttplate with trapdoor. Inlet base with swivel 4-1/4″ from toe, standard forend, nose cap with sling swivel. Inspection of lower tang reveals assembly numbers CF 150, matching 150 number can be found in top tang channel of stock and inside toe of buttplate. Accompanying gun are 2 boxes of Winchester ammo in 2-pc boxes, one with lime green label and one with an olive drab label. Both are wrapped together in cellophane. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl retains 75-80% orig blue with minor muzzle wear, thinning on sharp edges, thinning in chamber area and normal nicks, dings & light scratches blending with brown patina. Mag tube retains 85% orig blue thinning at muzzle end and normal minor nicks & scratches. Receiver is a mottled silver & gray patina with traces of orig case color in protected areas, normal minor nicks & dings. Hammer shows 50-60% orig color, balance blending with silver patina. Lever has traces of orig color in protected areas, balance a blend of brown & silver patina. Stock is sound with normal nicks, dings & shallow dents and retains an old coat of added oil that is blending with hand-worn patina. Forend is sound with normal nicks & dings and retains an old coat of added oil blending with hand-worn patina. Nose cap shows traces of thinning colors blending with silver patina. Mechanics are crisp, bore has distinct rifling with some very shallow, scattered pitting. No inspection of ammo was made. One box appears to be completely intact, second box has torn top lid and some old masking tape. 4-40458 BDT52 (4,000-6,000)
