BROCKBANKS & ATKINS MAHOGANY CASED EIGHT DAY NUMBER 993 CHRONOMETER. Second quarter 19th century, England. The chronometer on original brass gimbal, and marked “Brockbanks & Atkins/London No. 993”. The case inset with an ivory disc engraved “993”. Affixed to the front lid is a name plaque “J.W. Noel/Down Green/Wheathamptstead”. Case fitted with carrying handles. SIZE: Dial dia: 4-3/8″. Case: 7-1/2″ x 7-1/2″. CONDITION: Chronometer not inspected out of case. Instruments needs some balancing within gimbal, top lid of case absent.
