WAYNE BEAM MORRELL (American, 1923-) THE SCHOONER “COLUMBIA”. Outstanding oil on masonite Gloucester Harbor scene shows a majestic two-mast schooner with sails rolled having a New England seaside village as backdrop. A green hulled two-mast schooner with figures aboard with sails up and sailing right to left behind the Columbia. All reflected in a calm harbor water. A colorful late afternoon sky is shown with lavender to peach clouds with hints of blue. Signed lower right. One of Morrell’s best works circa 1974. Housed in a fine carved wood frame with white linen liner. SIZE: 24″ x 36″. CONDITION: Very good. 9-97038 (3,500-6,000)
