RARE INTAGLIO CARVED WHALE’S TOOTH. Circa 1860, England. Carved depicting a woman in period dress with large plumed bonnet within a rope twist frame beneath a six-pointed star. The tooth mounted on a three-step platform inlaid with diamond abalone inserts alternating with ebony dots, raised on turned bone ball feet. SIZE: Tooth: 7-1/4″ l. Overall: 8″ h. PROVENANCE: From a private Utah collection. CONDITION: Very fine. Well polished with good patina, untouched. 9-90386 (4,000-6,000)
