STEPHEN MAXFIELD PARRISH (American, 1846-1938) “AUTUMN SUNSET ANNISQUAM, MASS.”. Oil on canvas landscape shows foreground water with blue tinged banks and field lined with colorful red and golden trees. The sun is setting which outlines the clouds in a beautiful blue sky. Signed lower right. Housed in its original period stepped gilt molded wood frame. The back having two labels, one having an alternate title “Autumn Cape Ann” which is also on the title plaque on front. Back frame having a Marshall Field & Co. label. SIZE: 20″ x 28″. CONDITION: Wax relining, some light chipping in foreground tree with some small spot inpainting. Otherwise good. 9-97314 (6,000-8,000)
