RARE AND IMPORTANT FEDERAL INLAID MAHOGANY SIDEBOARD. Circa 1800, probably Kentucky. The D-form top with ovolo corners having string inlay and crossbanded edges above the conforming case fitted with a central long drawer above a pair of cupboard doors flanked by curved doors, all with contrasting double stringing, each with incurved corners, raised on four tapered square frontal legs, each headed with an oval fan inlaid patera above ring-capped bell flower inlays, the rear legs square with slight taper. SIZE: 39-1/2″ h x 69-1/4″ l x 26″ d. PROVENANCE: By descent through a Kentucky family. CONDITION: Professionally repolished with rich color. Proper right central cabinet door with shrinkage cracks in veneer panel also with professional veneer restoration. Proper left bowed cabinet door with restored crossbanding. Brass hardware early replacements of the period. Minor old shrinkage cracks proper right side of top. 9-20324 (11,000-14,000)
