EXTREMELY RARE WINCHESTER BOOKLET FOR THE MODEL 1866 RIFLE & CARBINE. Rare booklet dated 1871, 8-7/8″ high x 5-3/4″ wide with Buff colored paperweight covers with black & white line drawings of the Winchester 1866 rifle & saddle ring carbine. Upper corners of the printed cover also have drawings of the 44 rimfire cartridges and the cover is imprinted “WINCHESTER REPEATING / Firearms / Manufactured by the / Winchester / Repeating Arms Company / NEW HAVEN. CONNECTICUT.” Bottom corners of the printed area show the cartridge head stamps of both Henry & Winchester. Interior has 63 pages of printed material about the Model 1866 and testimonials from a variety of various military officers and civilians along with reproductions of 6 targets fired from 300 paces to 1,000 paces. CONDITION: Fair. Cover has been reattached with brown paper at the spine and now has a 5-1/2″ tear near the spine but overall all the printing & lithography on the cover is intact. Covers are very fragile. Interior pages are yellowed with worn corners that appear to have been trimmed. 4-40472 JR311 (2,000-3,000)
