WALDO PEIRCE (American, 1884-1970) “APPLE PICKERS OF POMONA”. Outstanding oil on canvas scene shows nine apple pickers harvesting apples in an apple orchard. Four men are seen on ladders while another man moves a ladder and three men bring pails filling up the bushel boxes. One woman is seen with a full bucket. All under blue sky. Signed lower right “W Peirce 42”. Housed in a modern gilt wood frame with linen liner. The back of canvas having title, also signed “W Peirce Pomona NY Oct. 42″. The best example of Peirce’s work that we have had the opportunity to offer. SIZE: 31″ x 43”. PROVENANCE: Robert Frederick Woolworth Estate, Monmouth, Maine. (F.W. Woolworth Store).
