SHERATON MAHOGANY SHIP CAPTAIN’S DESK. Second quarter 19th century. In two parts, top section with folding lid opening to baize-lined writing surface back section of which lifts to reveal open well and series of valanced pigeon holes, fitted to lower case of two drawers above pair of cupboard doors. Case sides with recessed flat panels, whole on turned legs. SIZE: 34-1/2″ h x 25″ w x 19″ d overall. PROVENANCE: From a fine New Jersey home. CONDITION: Professionally restored and re-polished with original ivory escutcheon and brass handles. Desk lid with splice repair. 9-24573 (2,000-4,000)
