TWO AMERICAN POWDER HORNS. 19th century. First example, carved with image of coastal lightship and identified as “A-82/SARA-J”. Fashioned with turned top and faceted pouring spout with plug. Second example, carved with date “1836” and above the name “CHARLES FALK”. Opposing side decorated with ship of the line “SHIP BOSTON”, powder horn also decorated with flowering plants, cod fish, panel of diaper work. SIZE: Larger: 14″ l. Smaller 12″ l. PROVENANCE: From a fine New Jersey home. CONDITION: Both good with old surfaces, the second power horn with overall blackening, otherwise good. 9-24640 (1,800-2,200)
