ATTRIBUTED TO ELISHA TAYLOR (E.T.) BAKER (American, 1827-1890) PORTRAIT OF THE SCHOONER “JESSIE B. SMITH”. Unsigned oil on canvas nautical scene shows a two-masted black hulled boat sailing right to left in full sail. An American flag off the back and ship pennant off the back mast. The captain is seen at the wheel. A light wave blue ocean with point of land on left and sails on the horizon. Morning sun with sky from light blue to yellow. Housed in its original Victorian walnut wood frame with gilt liner. SIZE: 24″ x 32″. CONDITION: Some inpainting, otherwise very good. 9-20318 (10,000-15,000)
