POLYCHROME DECORATED SCRIMSHAW TOOTH. Second half 19th century, New England. A nice scrimshaw example depicting a woman in dress with shawl, ribbon-tied hat, and laced button-front boots. In colors of red and yellow. SIZE: 5-1/2″ l. PROVENANCE: From a private Utah collection. CONDITION: Surfaces with minor blemishes inherent in the tooth, a small diameter plug at the base of tooth, scrimshaw somewhat faded, but remaining good to very good. 9-90369 (1,000-2,000)
