MARGARET FOSTER RICHARDSON (American, 1881-1945) PORTRAIT OF CLARENCE THULIN IN A THULIN FRAME. Oil on canvas half portrait shows a young man with black coat, tie and white shirt against a light gray background. Signed upper right “Margaret F. Richardson 1932”. Clarence Thulin is son of Walfred Thulin. FRAME: Housed in a partial gilt carved wood frame with carved signature and date “Thulin 1932” with artist monogram. PROVENANCE: Thulin Estate, Hamden, Maine. Handed down through family descent from Walfred Thulin (1878-1949). Thulin worked for the Carrig-Rohane Workshop until he had his own shop in Boston from 1912 into the 1940’s. SIZE: 27” x 19”. FRAME SIZE: Interior is 27-1/4” x 19-1/4”. Overall is 32-3/4” x 24-3/4”. CONDITION: Painting is very good, two light scratches. Frame: Loss to some gilt on very edges and bottom. 9-29908 (800-1,200)
