LARGE SCRIMSHAW TOOTH. Circa 1860, New England. This fine double-sided example depicting a courting scene in a garden within a border of stars and pinwheels. The reverse depicting a woman standing in a garden admiring the flowers within a border of scrolling vinery and stars. SIZE: 7″ l. PROVENANCE: From a private Utah collection. CONDITION: The tip of tooth with old chips, otherwise with even surface soiling, well polished with mellow patina. Very good. 9-90377 (1,000-1,500)
