UNUSUAL SAILOR’S VALENTINE. 19th century, probably New England. Mounted in a six-sided box with hinged lid and ivory knop, designed with a center flower within geometric bands, the outermost conforming with the box. The lid lined with period decorated paper. The box with faux grained finish raised on six angular feet. SIZE: Overall: 9-1/4″ w x 3-1/2″ h. CONDITION: Shell work in very fine condition. Box with dry, crusty, original surfaces. Generally good. Lid of box with repaired shrinkage cracks. 9-29045 (1,500-2,500)
