RARE CASED REMINGTON/BEALS 3RD MODEL REVOLVER. Cal. 31. SN 579. Blued finish with 4” oct bbl with two line “BEAL’S PATENT 1856 & 57. & 58. / MANUFACTURED BY REMINGTONS ILION. N.Y.” markings on top of bbl, acid etched floral cylinder scene, and 2-pc checkered gutta percha grips. Accompanied by a maroon velvet lined walnut case made by consignor and partitioned for the revolver, a rare 3-1//8” eagle flask with crossed revolvers and a banner across the bottom marked, “REMINGTONS.ILION.N.Y.”, an orig loading tool with cleaning rod, orig brass mold & key which are all included. Also includes an 1859 Frank Leslie’s Illustrated Newspaper ad advertising this revolver. CONDITION: Traces of blue in protected places, mostly with enhanced patina overall, mixed with light pitting. Grips show wear at bottom and left grip is slightly sun faded. Bore is lightly pitted. Mechanically fine. Flask has small dents on both sides. Replaced spring on flask is not strong enough to operate the measure. 4-59454 JH42 (3,000-4,000)
