EXTRAORDINARILY RARE ARCADE BRINKS EXPRESS CO. ARMORED TRUCK. Perhaps one might refer to this toy as the “Holy Grail” of the toy kingdom. Two words come to mind: “evasive” and “elusive”. Only a handful of these fabulous toys are known to exist. This toy is believed to have been originally made for the Brinks Company for promotional purposes. Over the years many people have tried to track down an example, but again the toy is most elusive and very few examples are known to exist. Although only 12″ in length, it is a massive 5 pounds and an accurate portrayal of a real life vehicle including gun turrets on the sides and rear. The rear of the truck opens up to a cast iron bed (unlike many of the other panel trucks that have a tin bed) to keep the valuable bullion and cash safely tucked inside. Most toy collectors are aware of this toy, but have probably not had the opportunity to even see or hold one in real life! This is a rare opportunity, perhaps once in a lifetime, to obtain such a treasure for your collection. Brilliantly painted in a deep red with gold highlighting, red hubs, and white rubber tires. SIZE: 12″ l. CONDITION: One of the nicest examples known to exist with overall normal wear and chipping to paint. Lacking the rubber tire on one iron wheel. 1-7658 JL (20,000-40,000) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Spring 2007 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price. The prices noted here after the auction are considered unofficial and do not become official until after the 46th day. |
