RARE REMINGTON MODEL 26 AIR RIFLE WITH FRAMED ADVERTISING. Cal. Standard BB. NSN. First model rifle finished in black paint with standard sights made for lead shot only. This is a very rare rifle, of which approx. only 19,000 were made and seldom seen today in any condition. It was designed by C.C. Loomis of Remington, famous for his design work on many Remington produced shotguns & rifles. These air rifles sold at retail for between $5.00 – $7.50 and were considered expensive. They were only on the market for seven years, at which time Remington dropped out of the air gun business. Accompanied by a 16-3/4” x 13” framed orig magazine advertising page displaying “THE LUCKY BOYS / Will Get Them / This / CHRISTMAS” advertising this particular air rifle. It is dated “December 1928”. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Metal retains about all of its orig black paint with some scrapes on the slide and one or two minor dings on the bbl, possibly an old restored finish. Wood is sound with minor nicks and scratches and retains about all of its orig oil finish. Mechanics are fine. The framed advertising is fine. 4-59421, 4-59476-1 JH5 (1,500-2,500)
