STOCK ROLLO-CHAIR TIN WIND-UP TOY. An interesting collaboration between Ferdinand Strauss, an American toy company, and Stock, a German toy company. Obviously Stock produced this toy for Strauss and most likely this toy was made for US distribution only. The toy depicts a uniformed black gentleman pushing a simulated wicker rollo-chair down the boardwalk of Atlantic City during the roaring 20s. Finely lithographed, this simulated wicker chair is emblazoned with both makers’ names and a patent date (Dec. 6. 1921). SIZE: 7-1/2″ l x 6″ h. CONDITION: Minor foxing to wheels, black gentleman shows abrasions where arms rub against chest; otherwise, toy is in very good plus condition. 1-8449 JL (800-1,200) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Spring 2008 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price. The prices noted here after the auction are considered unofficial and do not become official until after the 46th day. |
