FINE CANE AIR RIFLE. NSN. 38 Cal. & 42 Cal. 22” rnd bbl. The black body of the cane contains a brass band that retains a rifled brass bbl. The tip has a brass cover attached to the loading rod, which fits inside the bbl until used for firing. It has a turned ivory pommel. It has a large sight at the rear end of the bbl or about the middle of the cane. Unscrewing the inner bbl discloses a 42 caliber smoothbore bbl that theoretically could be used also. A replica operating key accompanies the cane. The square iron end of the key is inserted into the square hole on the case below the rear sight and is used to cock the mechanism. When the trigger, two inches further forward on the case, is pressed, the air in the handle of the cane discharges the ball. CONDITION: Some minor chipping to the black finish of the body and natural cracks to the ivory pommel. Mechanism works but the seals have not been tested due to lack of a pump. 4-56696 FS779 (2,000-2,500)
