*RARE MAUSER TYPE M FULL STOCK, BOLT ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 8X60mm. SN 106879. Beautiful carbine length rifle with 20” rnd bbl, ramp front sight with hood and 200 meter military style rear sight. Receiver is mounted with claw bases and receiver ring is knurled. Built on a standard action with stripper slot in rear bridge and a thumb notch on left side. It has matching numbered spoon handled bolt, shroud & safety. Mounted in very nicely figured French walnut, 1-pc stock with checkered forestock and pistol grip, 14-1/2” over a smooth steel buttplate with trap that has the Mauser banner and is numbered to rifle. It has a lever opening floorplate and has a sling loop on forestock & correspondingly on buttstock. This is a fine lightweight rifle, suitable for most light African & North American big game animals, a real classic. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl retains 96-98% strong orig blue with a spot or two of light rust. Receiver has a couple of thin spots on left side of receiver ring, otherwise retains about all of its orig blue. Extractor retains most of its restored bright niter blue, while bolt body & shroud have been refinished. Wood is sound with numerous small handling & use nicks & scratches, a scrape on right side of butt with a few small bruises, another scrape on left side by receiver with a gouge in forestock checkering and otherwise retains generous amounts of orig varnish. Trigger guard & floorplate appear to be an old refinish. Mechanics are fine, brilliant shiny bore. 4-59254 JR688 (1,500-2,500)
