*SCARCE MAUSER K-ACTION TYPE M BOLT ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 257 Roberts. SN 96474. Beautiful short action Mauser with 20” tapered rnd bbl, engraved on top “REBARRELED BY GRIFFIN & HOWE INC. NEW YORK” with the caliber engraved on left side of chamber area. It has ramp front sight with Griffin & Howe’s trademark hood, no provision for a rear barrel sight and is mounted with a Lyman 48M receiver sight. Receiver ring is stippled. Mounted in nicely figured, slab sawed walnut, 1-pc full stock with steel nose cap, a sling loop with an added deluxe Griffin & Howe base, checkered forestock & pistol grip with steel grip cap & cheekpiece, 13” over a hand checkered, steel buttplate with trap that has Mauser banner on lid. There is a silver oval plate on bottom engraved “ETTARI”. It has a checkered trigger with large trigger guard & a lever opening floorplate marked “MADE IN GERMANY”. It also has a spoon handle bolt with crosshatched bolt body & extractor. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Metal retains virtually all of its fine Griffin & Howe custom finish with some edge wear on trigger bow and grip cap. Wood is sound and retains virtually all of its orig finish, possibly a Griffin & Howe restoration. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bore. 4-59253 JR690 (5,500-7,500)
