SPRINGFIELD ARMORY HUNTING KNIFE. Indian Wars period hunting knife with 8-1/2″ spear point blade, 2″ wide, sharp on one edge only, with rnd ribbed wooden handle and brass hand guard marked on one side “US SPRINGFIELD” and on the other side “2233”. Its orig leather sheath, with brass throat and brass hook hanger, accompanies it. The reverse is marked “ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL” with the inspector initials “WTG”. CONDITION: Sharpened on a grinder with some surface discoloration and moderate to heavy pitting on the left side. Brass hand guard & handle are extremely fine as is the scabbard. 4-54981 JR295 (300-500)
