TRAVELER’S INSURANCE AUTOMATON CLOCK. An impressive large wall clock with rich patina featuring reverse painted lower glass indicating “Oldest, Largest, Best” for this Hartford, Conn. company that offered life and accident insurance for “Every Farmer or Business Man”. Center portion reveals automated cast iron bearded gent who rings bell with hammer. Ebonized wooden face of clock has beautifully inlaid mother of pearl Roman numerals with additional inlay around its center. Walnut case is elaborately carved with leaves and buttons around bezel, and its castletop crest is carved with elaborate scrollwork. SIZE: 54 1/2″ t. x 24″ w. x 8 1/2″ d.
