*SCARCE ITHACA 7E SINGLE BARREL TRAP GUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN 278663T. Fine old trap gun with 34” bbl choked FULL with flat, matted, tapered, ventilated rib with three brass beads, two crossbolt bbl extensions, ejector & gold plated trigger. Mounted with exhibition quality, center crotch cut, sunburst pattern, American walnut with extensively checkered & carved, reverse tapered, black insert, beavertail forearm with push button release & pistol grip stock with extensively checkered & carved side panels & wrist, 14-1/4” over an old Pachmayr trap pad. Receiver has full coverage, very well executed engraving with a gold pointer on left side, a gold setter on right side & a gold American spread-winged eagle holding arrows in his talons with a platinum head & neck. Trigger guard has bust of a bull elk. All animals are executed in deep relief & fine detail. Balance of receiver has intertwined patterns of acanthus leaves & berries. Opening lever, top tang & trigger guard are engraved to match, as is forend iron. Engraving extends over sides & top of bbl and has maker’s name in a ribbon on each side. Bore diameter: .730. Bore restriction: .034. Wall thickness: 041. Drop at heel: 2-1/4”, drop at comb: 1-5/8”. Weight: 8 lbs. 6.08 oz. CONDITION: About fine. Bbl retains a satin restored finish. Receiver retains traces of case colors in most sheltered areas with balance having faded to silver. Stock has a crack in left side of wrist, otherwise wood is sound with some oil staining on back end of forearm & around wrist and overall retains most of an old restored finish with a few light scratches.
