EMIL KERNER OVER/UNDER COMBINATION GUN. Cal. 28 ga./Appears to be 6.5X48R. SN 10197. Fine early combination gun with 26-3/4” bbls, raised, flat, matted, solid rib with ramp caterpillar front sight & 2-leaf express sight with extractor & dbl triggers with front trigger set for the rifle. Mounted with straight grain walnut with checkered, wrap around forearm & horn capped pistol grip stock, 13-1/2” over a basket weave, pressed horn buttplate. Bottom of stock has a 4-cartridge trap with a narrow sling swivel and corresponding sling stud on bottom bbl. Receiver is nicely engraved with a doe & fawn deer on left side, a pointer on point on right side, all surrounded by foliate & floral patterns with engraving on sides of bbl reinforcements. Maker’s name & address are on bbl. Unable to gauge shotgun bore diameter, bore restriction or wall thickness. Drop at heel: 2-3/4”, drop at comb: 1-5/8”. Weight: 5 lbs. 12.8 oz. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain about 95% orig blue with scattered light rust. Receiver is a silver metal color, probably from faded case colors. Wood is sound with usual handling & use marks, missing a small chip from forearm and retains most of its orig finish. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny shotgun bore.
