LOT OF 2 EARLY SHOTGUNS. 1) August Viaux Dbl Bbl Pin Fire. Cal. 14 ga. SN 726. Beautiful French pin fire with 29 5/8” Damascus bbls, dbl beads with the maker’s name and address relief engraved on the top rib. It has an under-lever action without forearm, and is lightly game scene engraved with dogs, stag and raebuck, surrounded by light arabesque patterns and gold wire inlay with very fancy trigger guard. The stock is beautifully figured walnut with straight grip and smooth steel buttplate. It has sling swivels. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain 50-60%, or more, dark Damascus pattern. Receiver, lockplates and hammers along with trigger guard and buttplate are a smooth gray metal finish and the wood retains most of an old refinish. Dark moderately pitted bores. Mechanics fine. 2) 1889 Remington. Cal. 12 ga. SN 225803. 30” bbls, choked FULL/FULL. Splinter forearm, semi-pistol grip stock, and Remington logo hard rubber buttplate. CONDITION: About good. 75% Damascus pattern, 50% faded case colors on the lockplate, receiver turned silver. Buttplate has a chipped toe, wood is sound with 60% original varnish on the buttstock, worn and dark bore. Rear forearm screw is a replacement and is stripped. 4-52244 JR81 (500-1,000)
