RARE LC SMITH DRILLING. Cal. 10×10/(appears to be) 44-40. SN 1254. Rare and unusual American drilling, bbls cut to 30 1/8”, tiny German silver front sight. Top rib marked, ‘L.C. SMITH MAKER OF BAKER GUN SYRACUSE NY STUB TWIST”. It has a short splinter forearm with iron schnable tip, secured with a wedge. It is fitted with a round knob pistol grip stock that has a Parker buttplate. Pushing the front trigger forward opens the action. The rear sight is missing. CONDITION: About fair. No original finish remains with the metal being and even gray patina. Bbls retain traces of original pattern with moderate pitting at the muzzles and light-pitting elsewhere. Receiver retains traces of silvered case colors. Stock and forearms have repaired cracks and a repaired toe and show heavy wear. Left wedge escutcheon is a replacement. Bbl lugs and dolls head have been tightened with a center punch. Dark pitted bores. 4-51344 JR37 (750-1,250)
