*FRANZ SODIA HEAVY DOUBLE RIFLE. Cal. 458 Win Mag. SN 25182. Best quality, hand detachable sidelock double with 25” bbls, smooth concave rib with pedestal mounted, gold bead, caterpillar front sight & 4-leaf platinum line, express rear sight, one standing, three folding, mounted on a matted quarter rib with Greener crossbolt bbl extension, dbl chopper lumps, ejectors, cocking indicators & dbl triggers with front articulated. Mounted in nicely figured slab sawed walnut, straight grain through the wrist, with checkered, splinter forearm & pistol grip stock, 14-1/2” over a leather covered pad. Grip cap is engraved steel with a small trap. Bottom of stock has a mortised sling swivel stud & a blank silver initial oval. There is a corresponding sling swivel stud on bottom of bbls. Coin finished receiver & lockplates are beautifully engraved with diamond, foliate arabesque patterns with bottom having a beautifully detailed, raised, gold maned lion. Trigger plate has maker’s name & address. Drop at heel: 2-1/8”, drop at comb: 1-1/2”. Weight: 11 lbs. 1.6 oz. CONDITION: Extremely fine, has been fired and hunted, but not abused. Bbls retain most of a fine, professionally restored, satin finish. Receiver & lockplates have been cleaned but not polished. Stock has a acquired hairline back of left lockplate, otherwise wood is sound & retains most of a professionally restored finish with the very fine checkering showing light wear.
