BERT GEER PHILLIPS (American, 1868-1956) PORTRAIT OF A YOUNG WOMAN. Small oil on canvas half portrait shows a side view of a young woman holding a colorful fan in front of her. She wears a yellow dress with white edges and long gold gloves. Signed upper left “Bert Phillips” against the bright red background. Phillips is best known for his Indian subjects and this probably is from an earlier period when he was in Europe. A wonderful portrait by a very accomplished artist. Housed in a fine pierced carved gilt wood period frame. SIZE: 10” x 8”. CONDITION: Surface dirt, would brighten with cleaning. Very good. 9-29165 (2500-4000)
